Catalyst Track: Change Makers // Day Two
Hannah Brencher
“By your spirit I will rise, from the ashes of defeat
The resurrected king is resurrecting me
In your name I come alive, to declare your victory
The resurrected king is resurrecting me”
These are lyrics to the song “Resurrecting” by Elevation Worship.
It’s Holy Week this week. It’s the time when we await the resurrection of our glorious savior Jesus, who died ingloriously on a cross.
And with his resurrection comes the opportunity for our resurrection, our transformation, our change.
This week’s track features stories of this transformational change – individual change and community change. Over the next few days, hear personal stories from Justin & Trisha Davis, Hannah Brencher and the Huangs with San Francisco City Impact on what change has looked like in their lives.
What will your story of change be? If you’re ready to find out, complete the challenges at the end of each day.
DAY 2: Hannah Brencher
Despite living in New York and working for a human rights organization with the United Nations, Hannah felt small, inadequate, unable to really make an impact in the world. Lonely.
Until one day, an encounter on the train prompted her to start writing letters, love letters, to complete strangers who needed them. What started as one letter turned into a much bigger story of transformation – for Hannah and for the recipients of these letters.
CHALLENGE:
What is an area you have previously or are currently struggling in? How can you transform that experience into one that helps bring change to the lives of people struggling with the same thing? Maybe it’s as simple as reaching out to others you know are feeling challenged. Maybe it’s a blog post, or some other radical new plan of action.
