Catalyst Track: Divine Direction // Day One
If you could take a step back and look at your life, you’d see that every decision matters, even the little ones.
Many of our daily choices happen invisibly, almost by default, like taking the same route to work every day or hopping onto social media every time we have a spare moment. Every day, we decide what to wear, where to park, when to schedule the next meeting, how to explain some report, what to eat for dinner.
If you want to take aim at the story you want to tell, you have to make small, life-changing choices and then act on them daily. The best decision you can make is always the next one.
Each decision should move you closer to becoming all that God made you to be, to turn your life in the direction of a story you’ll be happy to share.
In this 3-day track, Craig gives leaders the chance to ask themselves:
- What small things do I need to change?
- What new habits will move me closer to God’s story?
- What hindrances do I need to throw off?
As leaders, we’re constantly leading people in a direction. But it’s important to make sure our lives are heading in a good direction as well. Take the next three days to give yourself the space to do an honest self-evaluation by reflecting and completing the challenge questions at the end of each day.
Are you ready?
DAY 1 – Time to Begin
There’s an interesting story in the Old Testament about one of the leaders of Israel, King Ahab. A prophet explained that God would change Israel’s story by giving the enemy army into the hands of the Israelites. Ahab just couldn’t see it. He asked, “But who will do this?”
The prophet answered him, “This is what the Lord says: ‘The junior officers under the provincial commanders will do it.’ ”
“And who will start the battle?” he asked. The prophet answered, “You will” (1 Kings 20:14).
Think about the king’s second question: “Who will start the battle?” The prophet boldly replied, “You will!” If we want to see what God will accomplish, we have to move toward him.
God will finish it, but you have to start it.
So what’s your one thing? What one discipline do you need to start so that you can write the story God wants you to write? Maybe you know you need to grow spiritually. Don’t just think about it and feel bad about it. Do something about it. Perhaps you will commit to worship at church every week. Or maybe you’ll decide to read through the Bible every year. Or you might join a small group or start serving in your church or start volunteering with a local missions group.
What is the one thing you need to begin?
