Catalyst Track: Divine Direction // Day Three

Craig Groeschel

If you could take a step back and look at your life, you’d see that every decision matters, even the little ones.

Many of our daily choices happen invisibly, almost by default, like taking the same route to work every day or hopping onto social media every time we have a spare moment. Every day, we decide what to wear, where to park, when to schedule the next meeting, how to explain some report, what to eat for dinner.

If you want to take aim at the story you want to tell, you have to make small, life-changing choices and then act on them daily. The best decision you can make is always the next one.

Each decision should move you closer to becoming all that God made you to be, to turn your life in the direction of a story you’ll be happy to share.

In this 3-day track, Craig gives leaders the chance to ask themselves:

  • What small things do I need to change?
  • What new habits will move me closer to God’s story?
  • What hindrances do I need to throw off?

As leaders, we’re constantly leading people in a direction. But it’s important to make sure our lives are heading in a good direction as well. Take the next three days to give yourself the space to do an honest self-evaluation by reflecting and completing the challenge questions at the end of each day.

Are you ready?

DAY 3 – Run With Endurance

What are you doing that’s not good for you? What do you need to stop so that you can tell the story God wants you to tell? What’s the next decision you need to make to change the direction of your life? What is it that you need to stop so that you can move forward in the story you want to live?

The writer to the Hebrews said, “Since we have so great a cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let us also lay aside every encumbrance and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God” (Heb. 12:1–2 NASB).

What is the one thing that’s restricting you, hindering the story you want to tell? Lay it aside. One translation says “throw it off.”

This is a long race we’re in. You have to pace yourself. You can see the trail marked out ahead of you. You know what’s wrong. You know what you’re doing that’s not good. Seek help. Read a book. Seek God in a fast. Join a small group. Do whatever you need to do to stop it. And if that doesn’t help, try something else.

Maybe you recognize something you’ve been doing that’s not good, and you’ve already tried to stop, but you found you couldn’t do it on your own. It’s true that you can’t, especially on your own.

But I’m here to tell you that by the power of Christ, you can stop anything that he calls you to stop. If you follow Christ, then the same Spirit who raised him from the dead dwells within you!

And he will give you the power to stop.

CHALLENGE:

Pick one thing you know you need to stop doing in order to change your story's direction. Write it down.

Whether it's prayer, finding accountability, adjusting your schedule, or all of the above, how will you take steps to stop?
