Catalyst Track: Find Your Miracle // Day Three
This week’s track comes from excerpts from Kerry and Chris Shook’s book, Find Your Miracle.
Bartimaeus had no idea when he sat down in his everyday spot as the sun was coming up that he had positioned himself in the perfect place to meet the Miracle Maker as He passed through Jericho.
Much more important, however, Bartimaeus had positioned his heart to receive the miracle that he needed most. In crying out “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!” Bartimaeus humbly revealed his desperation for Jesus and powerfully declared his honor of Jesus.
In this 3-day track from the Catalyst App, the Shooks guide us through the miraculous healing of blind Bartimaeous to help us understand how to posture ourselves before Jesus in our own times of need.
Do you need a miracle? Maybe it’s healing. Maybe it’s a need for change in your job, your ministry, your family. Maybe you don’t need a miracle, but someone you know, love or lead does.
If so, take the next couple of days to look at the example of Bartimaeus and apply it to our own life.
DAY 3: Throw Off Your Cloak
I believe you need to throw off your cloak as Bartimaeus did.
Commentators say that this is a symbol of Bartimaeus’s leaving behind all he had in order to follow Jesus. I believe that too often we remain out of position for a miracle because we want to continue to be the driver of our lives. We want to maintain control of the car we’re in and not let go of the wheel in faith.
I believe you need to say simply and specifically to Jesus, right now, what your need is, just as Bartimaeus did. Confess to Jesus your greatest need.
Allow yourself to really believe that Jesus, the Son of God, the doer of miracles, can work a miracle in your life.
Ask the Lord to guide you along the path of humility, honor, and faith so you’ll be ready to receive all that God wants to give you.
