Catalyst Track: Ministers of Reconciliation // Day Three
Lysa TerKeurst
Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven. – Matthew 5:16
To say we live in interesting times would be an understatement. A variety of controversial cultural issues vie for our attention and beg for our voices. As leaders, it may be difficult for us to discern the voice of truth or navigate channels of communication and action.
There are, however, simple truths we are called to live out regardless of the cultural complexities.
In this track, we’ll view videos from important thought-leaders who have visited the Catalyst stage. Over the next three days, we’ll hear from Father Edwin Leahy, Trip Lee and Lysa TerKeurst about how we should understand our role as Christian leaders in engaging culture as well how to actually to do it!
If you’re ready to evaluate your own attitude toward culture and take steps to participate in it further, watch the videos and complete the challenges at the end of each day.
DAY 3: Who Is at Your Table?
Do you have a real relationship with people you disagree with?
In this video, Lysa TerKeurst encourages leaders to engage in the challenging issues of today by following the model Jesus set – that of serving and establishing relational collateral with those he interacted with.
The action step doesn’t need to be complicated: gather around a table and serve those you don’t understand.
CHALLENGE:
- What are current issues you are having a hard time understanding? Or what are communities of people you are struggling to connect with?
- Whether it’s inviting someone over for dinner this week, connecting with your local refugee agency or something else, what action can you take this week to understand those issues from a different perspective or serve those communities of people?
